Penn State Smeal Diversity Enhancement Programs to host career panel discussion

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Smeal College of Business Office of Diversity Enhancement Programs has invited four distinguished, diverse leaders for a Career Panel Discussion at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in Struthers Auditorium, 110 Business Building, at University Park. 

The panel is a part of the Determined to Educate Inc. Speaker Series, designed to enhance the academic and social lives of the diverse student body population at Smeal.  

The career panel will feature Makeda Mays Green, senior vice president of digital and cultural consumer insights at Nickelodeon; Kenny Green, a certified public accountant and the founder of Green Passion Projects; Tonnie Rozier, the founder of Tonnie’s Minis; and Nancy Dalton, head of community experience and customer marketing for Amazon Access/Amazon Consumer North American Store.  

Mays Green offers strategic insights to reach target audiences of series, games and podcasts authentically and organically at Nickelodeon. She previously worked as the director of education and research, digital media at Sesame Workshop.  

The author of Makeda: Moving Up in Media, Mays Green has appeared on The Learning Channel, CNN.com and Good Morning America Now. A recipient of Connecticut’s 100 Women of Color award, she also serves as an advisory board member for Raising Good Gamers, Determined to Educate and The Ferguson Public Library.  

Green’s company, Green Passion Projects, is an organization that works to build effective strategies for operationalizing social, environmental and sustainability goals. Green has held previous roles as chief financial officer of Access for Life and global head of accounting and reporting for Arch Woof Treatment. 

He was appointed to lead energy sustainability for Frontier and has appeared on The Learning Channel, Fox and HBO. Additionally, Green hosts a weekly Instagram series, Success Secrets, and has worked on projects such as consulting with Grammy-winning songwriter Steven Battery on a social impact music video for the Super Bowl featuring DeMarcus Ware and Snoop Dog.  

Rozier, founder and CEO of Tonnie’s Minis, began his banking career at the age of 7 alongside his grandmother. His love for baking continued as he fulfilled wholesale orders for Barnes & Noble, The Coffee Beanery, Bon Appetit and the Soul Café in Times Square while working as the Director of Boys and Girls Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. What was initially a side business evolved into his first wholesale business in Carol Gardens, Brooklyn.  

Tonnie’s Minis opened in June 2009 in Harlem, New York, and  recently opened a second location  in Newark, New Jersey. Rozier boasts clients such as Kimora Lee Simmons, Jay-Z, Gabrielle Unionand Rev. Run of Run-DMC. He has also been featured on The Wendy Williams Show for National Dessert Week, CNBC’s “The Profit” and MSNBC’s “Live with Tamron Hall.” 

Dalton is the head of community experience and customer marketing for Amazon Access, where she implements retail programs to expand access and lower the cost of convenience for underserved customer segments. She spent 20 years in financial services prior to her career at Amazon and has worked in numerous leadership roles at Amazon, such as the global head of WW Ops Shared Services.   

Currently enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Program in Social Impact Strategy, Dalton is also certified in the Society for Human Resource Management and as a Prince 2 Project Management practitioner. She’s involved in various organizations, such as the Association for Talent Development, Better Business Bureau, and The Food Research and Action Center.
