UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State World Campus will host its sixth annual leadership conference for students at the University Park campus in October.

Registration is open now for the 2023 Penn State World Campus Student Leadership Conference, which is scheduled for Oct. 15 and 16 in the HUB-Robeson Center at the University Park campus. The conference follows Penn State’s Homecoming festivities, including the Nittany Lions’ football game against the University of Massachusetts.

The $50 full conference cost includes programming on both Sunday and Monday. A $35 day pass for either day is also available. The registration fee covers all conference materials, speakers and activities. Students are responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses.

Students who require accessibility accommodations or would like to request a stipend to help offset financial hardships can contact Student Affairs at studentaffairs@worldcampus.psu.edu.

The registration deadline is Oct. 2.

The conference is designed to give students the opportunity to explore leadership and network with faculty, staff and peers. The engagement sessions showcase leadership development for students so they can be successful in their communities and workplaces.

Students attending this conference can:

  • Enhance essential skills and competencies in the pursuit of leadership excellence with an emphasis on creating a culture of leadership in their communities and/or workplaces
  • Explore the importance of embracing a diverse and inclusive community
  • Examine how their experiences in current leadership roles can enhance their student experience at Penn State and boost future career and life aspirations

Marly Doty, Penn State World Campus director of student affairs, encouraged students to attend the conference.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to network with other World Campus students and to gain valuable leadership skills,” she said. “We hope students will seize this chance to connect with one another.”

The conference schedule includes networking sessions, keynote speakers, breakout topic seminars and a campus tour.

The featured speakers are Sherry Hamilton Latten, a 2017 Penn State World Campus alumna and president at Latten & Associates, and Bobby Zaepfel, an organizational change consultant at Penn State Information Technology.

The annual student leadership is among the variety of opportunities and activities in which Penn State World Campus students can enrich their learning experiences. Other opportunities include homecoming, student clubs and organizations, and student government.
